How often do I dress in a certain way because it excites him?

Do I keep my hair long because he thinks long hair is sexy?

Do I use a specific brand of perfume because it pleases me—or pleases him?

Is the color I wear most my favorite—or his?

Do I steer away from certain styles because he doesn’t like to see me in them?

If you answered yes to at least three of these questions, your physical appearance is being determined not by you but by the man in your life. If he wants you to look “sexy,” it’s his definition, not yours. If he wants you to look “like a lady,” it’s his concept of class, not yours. You are both a shrinking tomato and a hot violet. As such, your reliance on your man to determine your look has to have a detrimental effect on your self-image. You become less a person and more an extension of him.
